Pocket PC Bartender Guide to the Rescue

It happens to everyone. You go into a bar and you order your favorite drink, and the bartender doesn't have a clue. Or you take a woman out on a date, and you're stumped when you're asked what kind of wine you'd like with the chicken marsala. Well, with a pocket PC bartender guide, you'll never have that problem again.

You can find these bartending references in many different places online, but there are certain common things you should look for. First, make certain there's a database that supplies drink recipes with clear instructions, including translations for measurements (who knows what a jigger is, anyway?) Second, check for more than drink recipes. Find a program that provides notes and suggestions on the better liquors, what to have with your dinner, etc. After all, not every occasion calls for mixed drinks, and you want to look like a man in the know.

These other features should touch on subjects such as picking the right wine for a meal and include a good vintage chart database. It is not as simple as white wine is good with chicken and a red is good with steak. Try to find a version that has a glossary; when learning about wine, you need to know the language.

You should be able to find PDA software bartending guides that satisfy these requirements for a reasonable price, although you probably won't find a good guide online for free yet. If you're trying to save money, go to the website for your handheld computer and see if they have any special deals or check out Amazon or eBay for less-expensive versions.
