Pocket PC Dictionary: Reference At Your Fingertips
Not many people have been in a bind where they needed immediately to know what "semaphore" means. But you might want to know what the Spanish-speaking guy next to you means when he says, "querido." And you might want to know how to ask for the bathroom in the Korean restaurant when the sweet older Korean lady keeps smiling and nodding. So how about a Pocket PC dictionary for your PDA?
You can purchase, and often find for free, English dictionaries, foreign language dictionaries, a thesaurus, medical dictionaries, and many other reference dictionaries. And in the case of language dictionaries, you can even find talking versions - so you can type in your bathroom search and let your handheld PC say it for you! Now instead of struggling hopelessly with foreign languages when you travel, you can just download the appropriate software to your PDA to say your words for you. You can practice your new language skills with the built-in tutorials found in many of these dictionaries, especially the talking versions. And all of these fit in your Palm Pilot or Pocket PC.
But there are other reference materials you may be interested in loading onto your handheld computer. For instance, the second worst thing in a foreign country, right after not knowing the language, is getting lost. If you have a handheld computer, though, you can download reference maps and guidebooks for the country you're in, not to mention you can use GPS location software as well!
With a handheld computer and the right reference PDA software, you're ready for anything.
